Thur 1st August

A warm and humid morning greeted the Thursday regulars. RASP suggested a mixed day but given the high overnight temperature there was not much optimism that much  thermal activity would get going. The gliders and ground equipment was all out and DI’d before the 9:30 briefing.

The need for lots of hydration was stressed and Notams included reserved airspace  to 3,400’ between Dunkerswell and the coast for the Honiton airshow.- to be avoided if anyone did manage extended flights.

The first launch was away by 10:30. As predicted the flight durations were low but gave lots of opportunities for launch, circuit and landing practice. Steve Westlake, Ron Johns and Chris Wool shared the hot  training work.

Simon Jordy looking after the Trial lesson visitors (David Clements)

Simon Jordy flew three Trial voucher visitors and Mark Courtney flew the EuroFox for 11 aerotows. A total of 36 flights. The last flight was the longest, Chris Wool squeezing 36 minutes out of an aerotow launch.  With everyone flown all the kit was safely away by 5pm after what felt like a long hot day. - John Borland
