The last day of the week's course started off with typical British summer weather, however it did perk up in patches throughout. Having lost 2 days due to weather conditions, today was met with some nice sun and at times strong westerly winds.
After a speedy set-up, the turnaround was quick with club members joining the day after Thursday being a write-off for flying. The ridge was doing its thing, however some lift was broken due to the wind gusts.
Jake Stabb was no longer with us as Boardmasters was way more enticing – but then again he had flown solo this week so mission accomplished! But today brother Luke followed suit, congratulations to Luke Stabb for going solo for the first time, with a proud James Flory watching on from the ground.
Congratulations to Luke Stabb for first solo (Lisa Humphries)
Lily managed some great flights as well in preparation for her next course which starts again on Monday! Nicholas Johnson enjoyed some aerotow practice and completed his Bronze endosement. Mike Meatyard took advantage of some instructor flights before jumping in the Junior. Lisa Humphries had a great time spinning with Steve Westlake and then had the last solo flight of the day. Congratulations to Nicholas Johnson for Bronze endorsement (Lisa Humphries)
The two longest flights of the day were a 126 minute flight by John Allan, and a 156 minute flight by Peter Startup. Additionally, there were lots of short flights as a result of many simulated launch failures.
Lovely food as usual from Vicki in the cafe, she will be there 9-3 next week as well. Greatly recommended!

A big thank you to the course helpers; Kevin Fairburn, Karen King, Tim Petty and Paul Medlock - and the instructors; James, Mark and Steve - Lisa Humphries and Lily Sanders-Page (ed mashup)
