Day 4 - Visit Our Friends. The task was to fly to as many gliding clubs as possible. The forecast was looking awesome so there were many 300’s and 500’s planned.
Planning the task (Nick Jones) |
Nick Harrison and I planned our first 300’s, my task was Bidford-Gransden Lodge and back to Aston Down for a total of 320kms.
As the grid launched into the blue, there were already good 3-4kt climbs in the blue up to almost 5000’ AMSL. Although most of the day remained blue throughout my task area, where there were clouds, the bases were up a 7000’ AMSL! Even FL65 and FL75 airspace was getting in the way!
Elsewhere from North Hill, Phil in DD3 managed just under 500kms, Ron managed just under 400kms.

Well done to Pete and Nick for their respective first 300kms, just got to sort the paperwork / technology- but it will be easier the second time!
