Tues 16th August - Course Week

The forecast for today had suggested that flying might be possible in and amongst the anticipated showers and ahead of likely thunderstorms later in the day. Those staying on site could hear the arrival of rain overnight and the rain continued as the day unfolded.

With low cloud and more showers forecast, and with no immediate likelihood of flying some ground school briefings were completed after which the simulator was also used. Meanwhile the lack of flying activities provided time for the fan belt on the green Discovery to be replaced.

At lunchtime with no immediate sign of any tangible improvement in the actual weather and with more low cloud and rain forecast for the afternoon a decision was made to scrub flying for the day.

Course Members, Instructors and Helpers all have their fingers (and everything else!) crossed for better weather for the rest of the week…. Mike Sloggett
