The Met Office suggested that it would be a reasonably good weather, and whilst it was windy (gusts to 20 knots and therefore, rated as ‘Yellow Card’) it was a Westerly which meant there was ‘ridge lift’ for most of the day.
The instructors James Flory (tug pilot) and Mark Courtney covering the morning duty then later in the day Peter Smith had picked up the afternoon duty to help work through a 2-seater Flying List that totalled 12 due to the yellow card conditions.

For the time of year and conditions there were some fairly long flights (Rob Hender and Peter Smith getting the last flight of the day at 44 minutes) and good to see Ian Mitchell having hour long flight in the Junior.

By the time the hangar doors had closed, due to rain coming through at 4 p.m., there had been 6 hours of flying and on returning to the clubroom a dozen or so members took advantage of the early finish to complete the day with char and a chat. Karen King
