Thurs 2nd September

There was a long flying list for both two-seaters and single seaters and so early in the morning, so it was disappointing to see the lowish cloud scudding across below the overcast in the  cool north easterly breeze. Not put off though, the hangar was emptied and gliders readied and dispatched to the west end of the airfield. A weather check with Mike Sloggett and Pete Harmer  showed that cloud was ranging from 650ft, and with no simulated low failures planned and the forecast going for the air to dry out, an adjournment for coffee was called.

The coffee turned into an early lunch with the low cloud proving stubborn to clear, and it wasn't til nearly 14:00 that a useful  launch was achieved.

The Thursday regulars then worked like clockwork to make the most of a long afternoon, with the Pawnee joining in for aerotows, the yellow card was reduced to red during the afternoon allowing more solo flying.

Well done to Stewart Henshall for completing his Bronze endorsement with Pete Harmer, and to Chris Warnes and Josh Funnell for progressing further along their IFP training with Chris Wool. Robert Lee flew his first IFP flight with his daughter in law. Pete Startup managed the longest flight on the DG505 hangar flight.

Well done to everyone for making a tricky day work well and getting everyone airborne in a limited time - J&P
