Saturday 7th June - La Motte Under pressure

High pressure was in charge of the south of France and the warming stable airmass made it hard to get away from the winch launch. David J flying with Christian fought for 2 hours on the local mountains before finally escaping to the higher mountains. Matt's cunning plan to take the second launch of the pair of cables and use the other glider as a thermal marker was thwarted by the Janus breaking the wire so there was only 1 cable after that.

Many buckets of sweat later and our intrepid explores had each made their way out of the La Motte valley putting to the test their expanding knowledge of the various routes available and what to try and where not to go, all the while keeping the escape to a safety field in mind.

The horrible hazy air was surprisingly unstable and some good climbs were had off the higher mountains which allowed some fair distances to be travelled and by 6pm we were all back safe and sound at the club just in time for JB and Matt to zip off to Marseilles to collect Rowan from the airport.
